Sometimes memories don’t arrive as stories, but as images. Learn how to draw from memory through various drawing exercises and come away with a “memory map” of a place. A great workshop for getting started on memoir comics!

About the teaching artist, Jett Allen:
Jett Allen (he/him) and is a cartoonist and writer based in Los Angeles, California. His comics and illustrations have been have been published by The New Yorker, The LA Times. His comic series, Trans Classic Movies, was twice nominated for Ignatz awards and was a finalist for the Cartoonist Studio Prize. Jett has taught comics workshops online and in person for: The Believer, The Sequential Arts Workshop (SAW), The Center for Cartoon Studies, UC Berkeley, Kathmandu University (Nepal), Williams College, and Hand Follows Eye. He believes that anyone can make a comic and he works with students to use drawing as a way to recover memory and reflect on experiences.
