In this introduction to basic techniques of traditional Scientific Illustration, students will learn how to accurately represent botanical and zoological specimens using graphite, colored pencil, pen & ink, and watercolor. We will briefly cover the history of scientific drawing and its relevance today, and information about gathering reference materials, but the main focus will be on honing observational skills and improving technique in representational drawing.
